Learning Something New

Its Game Day
I love Sundays! When I'm working ( like today) it sort of interrupts my Sunday flow. But the good thing about this Sunday is the Pats game is on at 4 since they are on the Left Coast.  I leave here with just enough time to get into my "football gear" this = cozy, and head over to some friends house where I know a recliner is waiting along with my fave Octoberfest. Jamie and Chris you are the best!

You are probably wondering what my new found knowledge is, well let me get to it. Last Sunday  Pats Cornerback (defends the other teams best wide receiver) Devin McCourty got called for pass interference penalty which is a spot foul. They move the offense to wherever the penalty occurs. Its a harsh penalty as it gives the offense huge chunks of yards and puts the defense in a tough spot. The refs call this penalty generally if the corner does not turn his head around to look for the ball and is holding on to the wide receiver (its probably more complicated than that). This is easier said than done. But instead of me trying to explain the call and all the disgusted reactions from fans read this little nugget from an interview that Bill Belicheck did with WEEI http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/new-england-patriots/post/_/id/4731828/defensive-backs-turning-for-ball.

So like me I hope you got a little nugget of understanding in this game of football. If I come across anymore easily explained rules/calls I'll be sure to pass it along.

The College football Update
Alabama is still the # 1 in the AP polls as they trounced Missouri yesterday. The fighting Irish are fighting hard as they move into the top 5 with last nights win against Stanford. I know Janelle and Jim are happy as they were out in the wet and cold for the game. They are loyal fans, and when you go to ND you do business and business is being done.

Heisman Watch
Geno Smith  from WVU is still the front runner even though they had a tough loss yesterday. Lets see if the K-state QB can keep knocking on the door.

Enjoy the NFL Game day I know I will! Next post I might share a recipe that I need to try.
